Specialist Leaders of Education
Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs) are outstanding middle and senior leaders who have the skills to support individuals or teams in similar positions in other schools.
They understand what outstanding leadership practice in their area of expertise looks like and are skilled in helping other leaders to achieve it in their own context. St Joseph’s College currently has SLEs from a range of schools across Stoke, Staffordshire and Cheshire who are available for deployment in the following areas: Art, Behaviour and discipline/attendance, Computing, CPD, Curriculum, Drama, DT, English, Geography, History, ITT/NQT, Mathematics, MFL, Music, PE, RE, Science and SEND. A list of our SLEs can be downloaded here.
An SLE Deployment Form can be downloaded here.
St Joseph’s College brokers SLE support with the SLE’s school. SLEs then plan their work collaboratively with the school who has requested support. Support could include:
- Diagnostic for a department/area of school with recommendations
- Learning walks and coaching
- Department reviews
- Coaching and mentoring
- Moderation of assessments
- CPD sessions and programmes
- ITT/NQT support
- Role shadowing
- Curriculum review
- SLT placements
- School Improvement Planning/Departmental Development Planning
